Study of Heavy Metals in Children`s Toys in Nepal Launched

On 18 July, 2013, IPEN Participating Organization Center for Public Health and Environmental Development (CEPHED) successfully launched the first ever report on "Study of Heavy Metals in Children`s Toys in Nepal" under a research fellowship from UNEP Eco Peace Leadership Center, Youhan- Kimberly University, South Korea. According to the research findings, 54% of the toys tested were found to be contaminated with heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium and bromine. All these chemicals have deadly toxic effects on children, especially on their physical, mental and intellectual development.
