IPEN has prepared "Quick Views" documents for the following SAICM regional meetings:

These documents highlight IPEN views on SAICM Beyond 2020 issues such as vision, policy principles, objectives and milestones, governance, high-level political commitment and financing. The document also follows IPEN comments that were provided to Brazil and Canada, the Co-Chairs of SAICM's "Beyond 2020" intersessional process. 

Updates about IPEN's work during the SAICM regional meetings will be posted here. SAICM Regional Meetings January - February, 2018

19-21 February, 2018

During the first and the second days of the SAICM CEE regional meeting, panel discussions were focused on countries' experiences, including financial mechanisms, success stories, lessons learned, and exchanges of information on scientific, technological and technical cooperation. During these sessions, IPEN colleagues Jasminka Randjelovic (ALHem, Serbia), Denys Pavlovskyi (MAMA-86, Ukraine), Gohar Khojayan (AWHHE, Armenia), and Muazama Burkhanova (Foundation in Support of Civil Initiatives, Tajikistan) were among the presenters.

THE government plans to conduct an inventory of all miners and scrutinise their work environment to control and phase out mercury use. The Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office, Union and Environment, Mr January Makamba, revealed the plan in an interview with the ‘Daily News’ in Dar es Salaam over the weekend.
