Global day of action on POPs in Mauritania.
AGREEM disseminated information pertaining to the Stockholm Convention and POPs to raise awareness about the necessity to successfully implement the Convention in Mauritania. A press conference was jointly organized with the POPs Coordinator at the Ministry of the Environment and the GEF UNDP SGP team in Mauritania. This conference aimed at introducing POPs and related harmful effects, the status of the Stockholm Convention implementation and highlighting the need to carry-out concrete actions for the implementation of the Convention in Mauritania. That was aimed also to introduce the GEF OP 14 on POPs and raised awareness among NGOs and the other stakeholder about opportunities of funding relevant POPs projects in the framework of the GEF UNDP SGP.
