PAN Ethiopia conducted an e-waste inventory in four cities in Ethiopia using the UNEP Inventory Assessment Manual as a reference to select the appropriate method. This guide was developed based on the Ethiopian experience so that other developing countries facing similar problems can use it and adapt it for their local situation in conducting e-waste inventories, as well as lobby for the formulation of policies to regulate the lifecycle management of e-products in their respective nations.
The American Public Health Association (APHA), the world's oldest public health organization, today called on the global electronics' industry, public health officials and international agencies to step up efforts to protect workers and communities, citing well documented adverse health effects caused by many toxic chemicals used in the manufacture of electronic and electrical products worldwide. The resolution endorsed three key strategies: right to know; prevention through design; and health surveillance.
