From previous studies on mercury contamination and the known amount of mercury waste currently being produced, CEPHED identified the Pokhara valley area as a mercury hotspot. Sampling of fish from area water sources including Phewa Lake will provide baseline data, and hair was also sampled from residents in Pokhara city for testing.
