SEA News: Indonesia Project Supports Civil Society

On February 24, 2026, around 50 environmental CSOs and policymakers gathered in Jakarta to support Indonesia’s transition to a just and green energy economy. With the energy sector contributing 11.9% of GDP in 2023 but also driving pollution and toxic chemical releases, urgent action is needed to protect both the environment and public health, particularly children.

To address these challenges, the TARGET: Empowering CSOs in Indonesia project was launched. Funded by the European Union and implemented by IPEN, Nexus3 Foundation, and Arnika Association, this four-year initiative will strengthen CSO capacity for pollution monitoring, support data collection, raise public awareness, and empower communities and journalists to advocate for evidence-based policies and reforms.
